The music business is changing rapidly right in front of our eyes. Streaming is a huge part of the music world now and with steaming on the rise, many songwriters often struggle to get fair compensation for their songs if they don’t get picked as radio singles. As the songwriters continue to fight for fair pay from streaming services, artists like Kip Moore have stepped up to provide a yearly bonus to his fellow co-writers in hopes that it will give them the financial security to keep writing great music. Kip tells Billboard that while he knows not every artist can follow his lead, he hopes that some of the more successful artists can follow suit to help the struggling songwriters in Nashville.
Kip says, “You hope that Congress fixes the songwriting problem and the rates that we’re getting, but until then we artists have to be proactive and help our writers out.” And this is why we love Kip Moore.
