Mary Smalls celebrated her 95th birthday on April 21st and she is a HUGE country music fan. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill met her backstage at their show in Charleston, SC and made this a birthday she will never forget…
Taste of Country reports that when McGraw and Hill announced their 2017 Soul2Soul Tour, Mary’s granddaughter, Tia Pettygrue, tried to get tickets. When it turned out that the seats were out of her price range, she went the social media route to try and get help to bring her grandma to this once in a lifetime tour! And it didn’t take long at all before the story came to the attention of McGraw’s team, who ended up setting them up with tickets to a concert in Charleston. On April 20 — the day before she turned 95 — “Grandma Mary,” as everyone calls her, not only got to see the couple live in concert, she got to meet them backstage. Mary told Taste of Country, ‘If I get to give Tim a hug, you think Faith will be mad?’” In which they responded, ‘I don’t think so, Grandma.’” And of course, just as we suspoected Faith did not mind. In fact, she joined in for a big group hug. The gregarious lady charmed the stars instantly, advising McGraw, “You got someone good … don’t turn her loose. You got something good, keep it.” Tim and faith even got Mary a cupcake and birthday crown to wear!
