Country Artist Talk About What Christmas Means for Them

By Staff Writer

KEITH URBAN
Keith Urban: Growing up in Australia, there are definitely different Christmas traditions that Keith Urban is use to doing, like going to the beach after opening up presents… but us Floridians can kind of understand that one! Keith Urban tells us about his normal Christmas morning… “I have great memories of getting up early and going and jumping on your parents’ bed and getting them up. You know, and then of course you tear open the presents and then it’s done and it’s like eight in the morning, and you’ve got all morning now to sort of wish you had more presents to open. We had great Christmases growing up. I really, really enjoyed them. Mostly, we’d go to the beach, you know, ’cause there it’s summertime. Load up the station wagon and head off to the beach.”

Chris Young: You can tell that Christmas is one of Chris Young’s absolute favorite holidays. I mean the guy talked about his first Christmas Album, “It Must Be Christmas” for weeks before December was even close. It was his first Christmas album he has ever done and it was so important to him because Christmas in itself is super important to him. He says, “There’s so many things about Christmas time that make it one of my favorite times of year, but you know not just the weather but the Christmas lights and you know my niece is four now so she really gets it you know last year she rea.ly started getting Christmas like, “I wanna go see lights, I wanna go see Santa Claus.’ There’s just something about you know that time of year and there’s just such a cool energy with it.”

Randy Houser: Now this guy, he is spending his first Christmas as a married man this year, BUT its not his first Christmas with his son, West. So he know that once you have a kid, Christmas is all about them.  “Now Christmas is more about West and all the things.  Just watching his face and the excitement of a kid if just the deal! You know, just trying to teach him what Christmas is about and when we say our prayers at night, why we say ‘In Jesus name’ and things like that and teaching him what all that means is a big deal, you know, for me.  So these days Christmas is about him and kids. I love Christmas.”
